What to consider with
an outdoor kitchen
Buying an outdoor kitchen is a considered purchase so you need make sure you make the
right decisions as you would for any indoor kitchen. Below is a list of items to think about:
Think about where you want your kitchen to be located. Will it be standalone outside in the open, in a garden room or under a canopy or structure to protect you and your kitchen from the elements.
Floor / Base that your kitchen will be sited A large number of our kitchens are supplied and
installed to new landscape projects so kitchen location needs to be considered as the fall
gradient needs to be kept to an acceptable minimum to assist with functionality and
aesthetics. Our units do have adjustable levelling feet but this need to be kept to a
minimum to make your kitchen more pleasing to the eye.
Siting your kitchen within a garden room, under a pergola or canopy will enable you
to not only enjoy your alfresco space in the summer months but also during the not so good
weather. Being outdoors in all seasons is becoming evermore popular as people strive to enjoy the health and well being benefits of being outside and enjoying that experience with
family and friends.
Our kitchens are bespoke and modular which can be configured in any combination
and size as required. We can even manufacture specific pieces should that be required.
Do you require a bar, standalone or attached to the back of the kitchen. Kitchen rear
upstands for shelves, utensils, storage, electrical sockets, optics, wine racks etc.
Gas, electric, water and waste drainage. As with your indoor kitchen. Depending on
your choice of appliances, we will need to get these services to your new kitchen, so it
would make sense to locate your kitchen near to exiting buildings to keep costs to a
minimum.
Our kitchens are made to order and can be finished in almost any RAL and
combination of colours you require.
Our main appliance selection are amongst the best brands on the market and will
compliment any of our kitchen designs.

Kamado – Charcoal.
OFYR BBQ – Wood and charcoal. Beer fridges and Ice machines.
Whether you want the convenience of Gas or the authentic taste and aroma of charcoal.
Some of our appliances offer both options, duel fuel or single fuel options.
Gas Ovens –
Pros: Are easy to operate and can quickly be started with the turn of a knob. They provide a constant and controllable heat source. Fast cooking time, heat up quickly, clean burning, fewer emissions compared to wood making them more environmentally friendly.
Requiring less maintenance and you don’t need to worry about storing or handling fire wood
Cons: Some pizza oven enthusiasts argue that gas fired ovens may not impart some of that same smoky and distinctive flavour that you get from wood.
Limited authenticity. Traditional Italian Pizza ovens are often associated with wood
fired ovens.
Wood Fired –
Pros: Authentic flavour. Wood fired ovens impart a unique Smokey flavour. Can reach extremely high temperatures, allowing for quick and even cooking of pizzas. Pizza
ovens can be used for more than just pizzas. They are great for baking bread, roasting meats and even cooking vegetables.
Cons: Longer preheat times, more skill required, knowledge of fire management and
temperature control. You will need a quality supply of quality wood or charcoal.
Beer fridges and Ice machines: A great addition to any kitchen. Located at point of use,
keeping your beverages cold and drinks accessible, reducing the need to go back and forth
to your kitchen and freeing up space.
There are a lot of natural materials on the market such as Marble, Granite, and composite products. Most of these are not suitable for outside use as they can be affected by ultraviolet which cause fading . Sub zero temperatures and extreme heat can also
damage these products.
Our recommended products are Dekton and Porcelain. Both are very durable, practical,
stain resistant and suited to the outdoor elements. Dekton has a larger range of coulors and
finishes. Porcelain has fewer choices but may be more appealing where cost is a
consideration.
Who ever is doing the cooking will generally be nice and warm from the heat from
the appliance, however, family and guests may need some supplementary heating as the evening get a little chilly. Infrared heaters can be a good choice and can be wall, ceiling or
post mounted to suite . They can be controlled by variable timers or remote control.
